LESTER E. TAYLOR ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR OF EAST ORANGE

January 29, 2013, East Orange, NJ-Lester E. Taylor, 38, has decided to run for Mayor in the City of East Orange, after assessing the City’s needs, his abilityto fill them and the political landscape. With loving encouragement from his wife Bibi, Lesteris running to improve, grow and enhance the City where they have built their home and are raising their children– Amani (14), Lester IV (4)and Lena (2).

Lester has received a warm embrace from local leaders and peers who share his vision of seeing their City take up innovative concepts and policies that will improve the quality of life for residents in East Orange. These leaders include the City of East Orange Council Chair Quilla Talmadge, Councilmembers Ted Green, Sharon Fields, Jacqueline Johnson, Lonnie Hughes, and Jamal Barnes.

“The decision to run for Mayor was founded upon my deep desire to provide the best quality of life for my family, neighbors and community. My goal over the next five months is to engage as many East Orange residents, clergy members, business leaders and organizations in a fruitful discussion about job creation, lowering taxes and creating revenue streams to enhance our City,” said East Orange Mayoral Candidate Lester Taylor.

This week, Lester will be meeting with New Jersey business leaders, advocates, and key stakeholders, at the State of New Jersey’s Chamber of Commerce –Walk to Washington.

Lester is a partner with the law firm of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader, LLC where he chairs the firm's Education Practice Group, which represents Boards of Education in General, Special Education, Litigation, Labor, Employment and Workers' Compensation related matters. Lester received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Montclair State University and his Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law. While in Law School, he served as a legislative associate for Dominion -a Virginia based fully integrated electric and natural gas utility company -in its Washington, D.C. government affairs office. After graduating from law school, Lester served as a law clerk to the Honorable Zinora M. Mitchell-Rankin, Associate Judge, Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Lester is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and presently serves as a Trustee for the New Jersey School Boards Association -Northern Region Association of School Attorneys. He was recently appointed to serve as a Board Member of the East Orange YMCA, is a long time member of the East Orange Historical Society and has served as a Director on the East Orange Chamber of Commerce.
