“I am humbled to have such a warm welcome into the East Orange Democratic family and honored to have the support of our distinguished guests,” said Lester Taylor, East Orange Democrats’ choice for mayor. “We have been out in the street every single day talking to people in our community and we are going to continue working incredibly hard to spread our message of change for East Orange. Our team is dedicated to providing safe recreational areas for our children and building neighborhood partnerships to reduce crime, developing our business districts to create jobs and generate revenue to hold the line on taxes and partnering with parents, teachers and administrators to turn around our failing schools.”
Speakers including Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., Assemblyman Tom Giblin and Essex County Democratic Chairman Phil Thigpen enthusiastically threw their support behind Lester Taylor and the East Orange Democratic Team in the upcoming June 4 primary.
“Lester Taylor has the experience we need to bring change to East Orange,” said County Executive DiVincenzo, Jr. “Times are tough and East Orange families are calling out for new leadership that understands what people are going through on a day-to-day basis and will be responsive to their needs. Lester Taylor and the council team are committed to improving the quality of life for their residents and will put East Orange families first.”
“East Orange has a bright future with Lester Taylor,” said Assemblyman Giblin. “I’m proud to support Lester Taylor and a great team of candidates who are going to bring energy and enthusiasm to the City Council and fight for the things we all believe in like making the city safer, more affordable, creating jobs and investing in our children’s education.”
“Democrats are doing great things in East Orange,” said Thigpen. “They have built a terrific organization and have an exciting team ready to bring change to East Orange. What sets Democrats apart is our commitment to looking out for those who need help the most. Lester Taylor and the East Orange Democratic team share that commitment to doing what’s right for all people in our community. “We can’t just wish them well though, we all need to do our part to get out the vote on June 4th.”
Chairman Leroy J. Jones, Jr. thanked the attendees and said the strength of the party lies in its membership.
“The men and women who make up the East Orange Democratic Committee are what makes our organization so special,” said Jones. “I am thankful that we have great friends up and down the state in Chairman Wisniewski, Chairman Thigpen, County Executive Joe DiVincenzo and our District Thirty-Four Legislative leaders, Speaker Oliver, Senator Gill and Assemblyman Giblin, who recognize what we are doing to build our party from the bottom up and make our city an even better place to live. It’s time for a change in East Orange and when we come together like this we can make change a reality in our community.”
